FTP client for Windows 11, Windows 10 and Windows Server
FTPShell Client is a native Windows program. It runs on Windows 11 and Windows 10, on the older desktop releases back to Vista, and on Windows Server 2003 through 2025, as the same lightweight 32-bit application on 32- and 64-bit systems. Nothing about Windows 11 needs special handling: install the MSI, open a session, connect.

Installs like any Windows application
The installer is a standard MSI. It adds the GUI (ftpshell.exe), the FTPShell Editor, the diff viewer, the logon scheduler helper, the ftpshellc console client and the manuals as CHM and PDF, creates Start menu and desktop shortcuts, adds the install folder to PATH so the console works from any command prompt, and sets up the 30-day trial. Settings, favorites, queues and tasks live in ProgramData, so they survive reinstalling and are shared by every Windows user on the PC. Uninstall from the Start menu entry.
Feels like Windows Explorer
The remote pane sits above the local pane, each with a folder tree (My Documents, My Computer with its drives, Remote Computer), an editable path box, Name, Ext, Size and Date columns, click-to-sort headers, rubber-band multi-select, file-type icons, resizable splitters and right-click menus. Local deletes go to the Recycle Bin. The Delete key works in both lists, Alt accelerators sit on every menu, and Ctrl+N, Ctrl+F, Ctrl+P and Ctrl+I open FTP, SFTP, FTPS Explicit and FTPS Implicit sessions.
Why not the FTP built into Windows?
Windows can open an ftp:// address in File Explorer and ships a command-line ftp.exe, and both stop short of what daily work needs: no SFTP or FTPS, no resume, no queue, no sync, no scheduling. The FTP in Windows Explorer page walks through what the built-in tools can and cannot do. FTPShell adds the secure protocols, the transfer queue with resume and duplicate rules, folder sync, remote search, scheduled tasks and scripting, and its ftpshellc console accepts the same -s:file command files as ftp.exe.
Servers and workstations alike
On Windows Server the same installer gives administrators a client for pulling logs and backups, publishing to web servers and exchanging files with partners over SFTP or FTPS, with the console client and FTPShell Script (Enterprise) for jobs run by Task Scheduler. The ftpshellc -loadlic command installs a license key file from the command line on headless or managed machines.
Questions people ask
Does FTPShell Client work on Windows 11?
Yes, on 32- and 64-bit Windows 11, with no compatibility settings needed.
Is there a 64-bit version?
FTPShell Client is a 32-bit application that runs on 64-bit Windows. File sizes and offsets are 64-bit internally on SFTP and FTPS, so files over 4 GB transfer, resume and report correctly.
Does it run on Windows Server 2025?
Yes. Windows Server 2003 through 2025 are supported.
Is there a free FTP client for Windows 11?
Yes. The FTPShell Personal edition is free for non-commercial use on every supported Windows version, including Windows 11 and 10, with FTP, FTPS and SFTP. See the free edition and download.
Can several users on one PC share the site list?
Yes. Favorites, queues, tasks and options are stored in ProgramData and shared by every Windows user on the machine.
Is there a 64 bit FTP client for Windows 10 and Windows 11, and does the 32-bit program run on 64-bit Windows?
FTPShell Client is a 32-bit program that runs on 64 bit Windows 10 and Windows 11 without any compatibility settings; Windows runs it natively through its 32-bit subsystem. Inside the program, file sizes and transfer offsets are 64-bit on SFTP and FTPS, so files over 4 GB transfer, resume and report correctly. There is no separate 64-bit installer to look for.
